Shaheed Nahar Singh (Raja Nahar Singh)…. The Great Warrior of 1857 Rebellion. A great hero who guarded Delhi with his eagle eyes. Nahar Singh’s forces from Delhi to Ballabpur were called the ‘Iron Gate of Delhi’ by the British rulers to understand his ability.
Nahar Singh was born on 6 April 1821 in Ballabghar area of Haryana. Father Raja Ram Singh and mother Basant Kaur. He studied martial arts under the tutelage of Pandit Kulkarni and Maulvi Rahman Khan. As his father died when he was young, Naval Singh took care of the affairs of the kingdom. Nahar Singh took over the kingdom at the age of 18.
The British rulers decided to suppress the rebellion of sepoys in Delhi. For this, the support of many kingdoms was sought. Pataudi and Dujjana supported the British. At the same time the principalities of Jajjar, Farooq Nagar and Lohar along with Nahar Singh also refused to support the British.
Nahar Shah supported Delhi Emperor Bahadur Shah. He defeated the British troops on the borders of Delhi. With this, the British rulers wrote a plan to occupy Delhi anyway. They went from the eastern part and occupied Delhi. Later he told Nahar Singh that the Mughal emperor is seeking your help for peace talks with the British. Nahar Singh and his army were surrounded by the British officers in the middle of the road. Nahar Singh was arrested and hanged
